While I'm waiting.....

I recently heard the song" While I'm Waiting" By John Walker and the message of the song really hit home for me. So many times in life we have our idea of what God wants us to be doing or quite frankly what we want to be doing. We pray for God to bless our ideas and provide for things in our time table. I know personally I have struggled with this as long as I can remember. My heart is in the right spot and intentions are usually good, but I still miss the point.

The first verse goes likes this:

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently I wait

God has been working on my heart recently about things sometimes being painful. I am pretty stubborn, my family will attest to this. Sometimes things are painful when God is molding us to be the person he needs us to be. I am convinced sometimes we are just not ready for God to reveal everything and the are things within us that need changed before he can unveil his plan. But what we do when things are painful and not going exactly the speed we think they aught to is the true measure our faith. Here is the next part of the song that is so eloquently written.

And I will move ahead bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience

The thing I forget is that it is not my job to worry about the details and the entire plan. It is my job to take the next step God has revealed to me and follow him in obedience. The chorus of the song says is better than I can for sure.

While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

So as I am waiting, I will continue to serve and worship God. What a great reminder found in this awesome song.

Patiently Waiting,

Gary
